Parent Coaching Agreement

Coaching Sessions

  • Personal coaching sessions are offered by appointment only. Sessions are primarily conducted via Internet (Zoom), which can occur on a computer or Smartphone. Phone calls can be arranged if internet access is not available. In-person appointments are available under certain conditions at an extra cost.
  • Session times will be arranged by the client via the online calendar. Standard sessions are 55 minutes long with the time being calculated based on the agreed starting time.
  • The success of each session is dependent upon the client’s willingness to communicate openly and honestly, share successes and failures, and complete the agreed tasks and assignments between sessions.
  • Sessions can be conducted weekly, fortnightly or monthly depending on the circumstances and nature of the issues being addressed.
  • As the client you are required to provide a working phone number, email address, and any other Internet IDs required to facilitate online sessions.

Extra Calls & Emails

  • Emails are offered with your session package at no additional cost. I will endeavor to respond to emails within 48 hours of receipt.
  • Calls between sessions are by exception and reserved for urgent issues. My schedule does not always permit me to answer your calls immediately. By leaving a short message, I will endeavor to respond within 48hours.

Confidentiality

  • Successful coaching requires a trusting partnership. All information disclosed within coaching sessions shall remain confidential. Except when I have reason to believe there are credible risks of serious harm to a parent, child, or another person.

Cancellation and Rescheduling

  • If you need for any reason to reschedule a session please try to advise at least 48 hours prior to the original appointment. Sessions can be rescheduled with adequate notice at no extra cost.
  • Sessions missed or canceled with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged at the cost of the full session.

Right of Refusal

  • In the event your coach considers that parent coaching is not fit for your situation, Understanding Teenagers reserve the right to refuse services at any time. You will receive a refund for prepaid, unfulfilled sessions.
  • Likewise, if you as a client are dissatisfied at any time with the coaching services you are receiving, you have the right to terminate the existing agreement via letter or email and you will be reimbursed the amount of prepaid, unfulfilled sessions.

Fee Schedule

  • Fees are as per the appointment booking page.
  • In-person consultations/home visits are available by request with a fee quoted at the time of the request.

Payment

  • Payment options: Credit Card, PayPal
  • Payment options are 100% upfront prior to each session.

Client Agreement

  • I understand that I am entering into a professional coaching relationship as the Client. The purpose of the professional coaching relationship is to develop and increase; parenting confidence, parenting comfort with decisions and skills, and the quality of relationship with my children/teenagers as determined by my goals, desire, values, abilities, and motivation for change.
  • I understand and agree that I am fully responsible for my physical, mental and emotional well-being during my coaching sessions, including making my own decisions and choices. I am aware that I can choose to discontinue at any time.
  • I understand that if at any time I don’t feel comfortable or have a concern regarding how the process is working that I will communicate those concerns clearly and immediately to my Coach.
  • I understand that parent coaching does not involve the diagnosis or treatment of mental disorders as defined by the American Psychiatric Association. I understand that parent coaching is not a substitute for medical advice, professional counseling, psychoanalysis, substance abuse treatment, psychotherapy, or any other therapy. As the client, it is my responsibility to seek an independent licensed professional who can provide these services for both my children and myself.
  • I understand and am aware that the outcomes of the coaching sessions are not guaranteed and the results of coaching differ for each individual.
  • I acknowledge the aim is to improve my parenting capacity and/or my teenager’s coping skills but that it takes time and practice to achieve the desired results and that responsibility for creating the outcomes belongs to me and/or my teenager.
  • I understand that all sessions, and information disclosed within those sessions, are confidential. I understand that this confidentiality will be breached only when required by law.
  • I have been fully advised of and understand the fee structures, payment terms, and refund policies described in this agreement.
