Hi ,
So here’s something I never thought I’d say: I’m now making Instagram Reels.😲😲😲 (#OldDogNewReels.)
Yes, me. The guy whose relationship with social media has always hovered somewhere between passive-aggressive and token effort. I’ve posted the odd thing here and there — mostly to prove I’m still alive — but I’ve never exactly embraced it with the enthusiasm of a teenager documenting their lunch.
That said, I do realise it’s where a lot of people go these days to pick up ideas, have a scroll, and maybe find something useful in under 90 seconds. And fair enough — sometimes it’s easier to watch a quick reel than open yet another email.
Plus, I’ll admit video can be a much more effective way of connecting and communicating than just text on a screen. And these reels do make it surprisingly easy to share something real without all the usual fuss — no editing marathon, no scriptwriting session, just a camera, a thought, and a quick hit of parenting perspective. (Still can’t do much about the quality of my face, but you get what you get.)
These short videos are my way of sneaking practical, realistic advice into your day without requiring a deep breath and a cup of coffee first (although both are still encouraged).
🔹 Need a way to reset after a showdown about screen time? 🔹 Want to know what to say when your teenager says "You can't stop me"? 🔹 Want to build up your list of parenting hacks so you are ready handle whatever they throw at you?
Because they’re short, they’re also shareable, which means if one resonates, you can pass it on to your mate, your sister, or the guy next to you at soccer who just muttered something about “losing the plot.”

I aim to put up 2 or 3 a week. I’d love it if you’d watch a few, share one or two, and let me know what hits home.
And apparently, if you follow or like the page, it helps more people discover my average-looking head sharing occasionally useful parenting ideas. |
